Position Summary:

 

We are seeking a strategic, mission-driven Business Development Manager to lead our growth efforts in the aerospace & defense industry. This individual will play a pivotal role in defining and executing Nusano’s commercial strategy for aerospace & defense applications, with a focus on long-term market development, high-impact partnerships, and identifying novel use cases for our technologies.

 

This is not a transactional sales role but may support strategic accounts from time to time. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strong commercial instincts, and a proven track record of meaningful transactions, collaborations and partnerships across aerospace & defense manufacturers, prime contractors, government agencies, and advanced materials developers.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Growth & Market Development:
    • Identify and pursue new use cases for radioisotopes across aerospace & defense applications.
      such as non-destructive testing (NDT), materials inspection, propulsion R&D, and mission critical systems. Develop executive-level relationships with target customers, partners, and ecosystem stakeholders, including OEMs, integrators, and strategic suppliers.
    • Lead discussions and vetting processes with potential partners to assess mutual fit, technical feasibility, and commercial potential, converting these opportunities to executed agreements in a timely manner.

  •  Opportunity & Pipeline Management:
    • Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of strategic opportunities aligned with Nusano’s industrial growth goals.
    • Achieve partnership and deal goals on an annual basis.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to evaluate customer requirements, customize solutions, and respond to RFPs or technical questionnaires.
    • Partner with legal and finance to support structuring of agreements, pricing models, and contract terms that support scalable, long-term partnerships.
  • Ecosystem Engagement & Intelligence:
    • Represent Nusano at aerospace & defense industry conferences, government roundtables, and technical working groups to build visibility and gather market insights.
    • Monitor trends in commercial aerospace & defense, defense, and space sectors to shape BD priorities and influence product development.
    • Interface with government agencies, labs, and regulatory bodies when appropriate to support cross-sector initiatives.

  • Internal Collaboration:
    • Provide regular briefings to leadership on market developments and partnership opportunities including deal status.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or commercial leadership roles in the aerospace & defense industry.
  • A meaningful deal sheet demonstrating value creation regardless of transaction size.
  • Deep understanding of the aerospace & defense sector, including key players, market dynamics, and regulatory factors.
  • Demonstrated success driving long-cycle technical partnerships or high-value deals.
  • Established relationships with senior decision-makers at leading aerospace & defense companies.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presence.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with radioisotopes, advanced physics technologies or nuclear-adjacent technologies in industrial or government programs.
  • Background in space systems, defense innovation, or advanced materials a strong plus.
  • Master’s degree or certifications in business, strategy, engineering, or government affairs.

Physical Requirements:

  • 20% travel to Nusano offices, conferences, meetings with prospective customers.
