Position Summary:

 

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Technical Project Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful planning, execution, and completion of our highly technical projects. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise and engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborating with the technical project manager to define project objectives, scope, and technical requirements for particle accelerator, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, and radiochemistry projects.
  • Assisting in the development of project plans, including task assignments, resource allocation, and timelines.
  • Providing technical input and engineering expertise during project design, development, and implementation phases.
  • Conducting feasibility studies, performing technical calculations and analyses, and making recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  • Participating in design reviews and technical meetings to ensure compliance with project requirements and technical specifications.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution, addressing technical issues and resolving conflicts as they arise.
  • Monitoring project progress, tracking deliverables, and providing regular updates to the technical project manager and other key stakeholders.
  • Assisting in risk assessment and management activities, identifying technical challenges and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of quality control procedures and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Participating in the testing, commissioning, and acceptance phases of projects, verifying that technical requirements are met.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot technical issues, providing technical guidance and proposing solutions.
  • Documenting project activities, maintaining accurate records, and preparing technical reports and presentations as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in project engineering, preferably in highly technical projects related to particle accelerators, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, or radiochemistry.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of particle accelerators, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, and radiochemistry principles and technologies.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools relevant to the field, such as CAD software, simulation tools, or data analysis software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address technical challenges.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with technical experts, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to project requirements.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and processes, supporting the successful execution of projects.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable working in a facility that produces radiation.
  • Work to be conducted in both an office environment and the production facility.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Frequent use of computer with repetitive use of keyboard, mouse and manual dexterity.
