Position Summary:

 

The Senior Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of the project, from initial conception through high yield production. This includes nuclear irradiations, the development of novel advanced processing machines for post-irradiation target processes, and radiochemical processes required to meet customer specifications. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing facility planning to support the development of hardware devices, the irradiation facility, and operational processing facility. 

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Develop a complete, properly scaled, and tailored project management plan
  • Develop, consolidate, maintain, and manage against a complete performance management baseline (scope, schedule, and cost)
  • Ensure that a proper cost and company-resource loaded schedule is maintained to allow effective cash-flow management, and resource assignment and supervision.
  • Develop and monitor execution of effective environment, safety, security, health, and quality management systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage cost-effective issues, action-items, trade-offs, and alternative logs with input from key team members, stakeholders, cross-dept., and subproject managers to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage a requirements and interfaces management system between major subprojects that clearly provides traceability and the nature of derived requirement specifications.
  • Identify, analyze, and address risks (both threats and opportunities) that could impact the project performance baseline and ensure that the proper responses are undertaken.
  • Provide the executive team with regular project status updates about performance, staffing, timelines, budgets, emergent risks, supplier vendor issues, etc.
  • Work with subproject managers to ensure proper vendor and supplier liaison and oversight as required.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the company. Perform personnel functions (e.g., interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel, and achieving project and company objectives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including R&D, engineering, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to ensure alignment and adherence to industry standards and regulations. 
  • Engage with nuclear reactor facilities, managing all aspects of radioisotope targetry, post-irradiation processing, radiochemistry processes, and facility upgrades. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements related to radiological aspects, nuclear reactor operations, and facility enhancements. 
  • Oversee the technical development and upgrade of radioisotope processing devices, ensuring technical precision, innovation, and reliability. 
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, establishing contingency plans as necessary. 
  • Effectively communicate project progress, challenges, and achievements to stakeholders at various organizational levels. 
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and collaborative project environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a related technical field
  • PMP or similar project management certification from an accredited university
  • 7+ years of engineering project management experience in a related field
  • Experience managing a project portfolio of greater than $3M
  • Experience managing projects with a successful completion duration of 12-24 months

Preferred Requirements:

  • A Professional Engineering (PE) License in relevant technical field
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or API product development and full scale production
  • An advanced degree in engineering or science in a related technical field
  • Experience in design, construction, commissioning, and operation of high hazard industrial and radioactive materials processing facilities
  • Experience managing high technology hardware, accelerator, high energy physics, radioisotope, or medical or other instrumentation projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of environment, safety, security, health, and quality assurance requirements related to high hazard industrial and radioactive materials processing facilities, and high technology hardware
  • Experience initiating, planning, monitoring, organizing, controlling and executing a project from inception through close out
  • Experience with assuming management and control of projects already underway and needing corrective actions
  • Experience with the management to complex multi-subsystem projects
  • Project management in commercializing technical products
  • Experience leading team to successfully meet project goals and objectives
  • Experience in the development of performance and management baselines and managing budgets and schedules against the baseline while demonstrating a track record of cultivating successful teams
  • Excellent communication, people skills and experience working with various cross-department stakeholders
  • Driven to achieve goals, meet deadlines
  • Understanding and practice in basic systems engineering requirements, interface, and configuration management
  • Experience working with Engineers and Scientists to ensure that technical scope performance is achieved in a timely and cost-efficient manner
  • Experience with overseeing and managing logistical endeavors as related to a corporate relocation
  • Ability to effectively manage contractors and external suppliers
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Google, etc.,) and project management software tools. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work to be conducted in both an office environment, laboratories, and production environment.
  • Frequent use of a computer with repetitive use of keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to work sitting and standing for extended periods, grasping/gripping, fine motor control with hands.
  • Ability to travel 2-8 weeks per year for experiments, visiting vendors, training, and attending conferences.
