Nusano

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Target Development for our cutting-edge cGMP medical radioisotope production facility. As the Director of Target Development, you will play a crucial role in the research and development of high-current, heavy-ion isotope targets and target stations. Nusano has a patented one-of-kind source technology that enables multiple milliamp particle currents of alpha particles, deuterons, and lithium ions accelerated to energies of 50 MeV, 25 MeV, and 75-87.5 MeV, respectively. Your expertise in target design and station optimization will be instrumental in the reliable and efficient production of medical radioisotopes that contribute to advancements in healthcare and patient treatment.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

1. Target Design and Development:

  • Lead the research and development of high current, heavy-ion isotope targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including physicists, engineers, and radiation safety experts to ensure optimal target performance and safety.
  • Utilize simulation and modeling tools to predict and optimize target behavior, interaction dynamics, and material considerations.

2. Optimization of Target Stations:

  • Drive the continuous improvement of target station components and interfaces to enhance operational safety, facilitate repairs, and increase target station lifespan.
  • Implement strategies for minimizing target-related downtime and maintenance while maximizing radioisotope yield.

3. Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all target and target station designs and modifications adhere to cGMP standards (when applicable), radiation safety protocols, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to facilitate inspections, audits, and certifications related to targetry operations.

4. Project Management:

  • Oversee project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation for target and target station design and optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with project teams to align efforts, track progress, and address potential roadblocks or delays.

5. Technical Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of targetry engineers, physicists, and technicians.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and skills development.

6. Research and Innovation:

  • Stay current with advancements in accelerator technology, targetry methods, and related fields to identify opportunities for innovation and enhancement.
  • Drive research initiatives to explore novel target materials, cooling methods, and beam-target interaction dynamics.

7. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to align targetry efforts with overall facility goals and objectives.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and strategies to non-technical stakeholders, both within the organization and to regulatory authorities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field with a strong focus on accelerator physics and targetry.
  • Proven track record of designing, optimizing, and managing target systems for accelerators in a medical radioisotope production or related context.
  • In-depth understanding of cGMP standards, radiation safety, and regulatory compliance in a medical radioisotope production environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Track record of innovation, including contributions to research or development projects in the field of targetry and accelerator physics.
  • Experience with simulation-based target design.

Join us in shaping the future of medical radioisotope production through innovative targetry design and optimization. Apply your expertise to drive advancements in healthcare and patient treatment.
